Norway is persevering after oil prices dropped and their plan to regain jobs is through startup initiatives, which are on the rise. Primarily technology-based, Norway has a strong commitment from the government, both in financial aid and in awareness and support, with the government-run Innovation Norway initiative focusing on encouraging startup companies to flourish. This will not only help the founders but, with so much domestic support, the startup job market will eventually begin to develop as well. The initiative has incredible domestic support, including from the reigning monarch. Crown Prince Haakon is doing his best to support the endeavor. While visiting Silicon Valley, the prince was quoted saying that Norway is “constantly trying to foster a culture of innovation.” Having royalty and the government in support of the Norway startup economy is an intensely positive foundation for the growing startup structure that the country is in the process of creating.
