Berlin is one of the leading startup cities in Germany, ranking seventh in the Global Startup Ecosystem Report and housing seventeen percent of all the country’s startups. The early startup funding average is close to double the global average at $483k per firm and the value of the Berlin startup ecosystem is reported to be thirty-one billion dollars. This is great news, both for the founders and entrepreneurial hopefuls residing within the city, as well as the startup job market. Berlin is also a city where immigrants can find their startup a home with forty-three percent of startup founders falling under this category. Yet, with the lax visa laws and available business opportunities, it makes sense that this would be a good place to lay the groundwork for a startup company. This idea seems to be working quite well for customers, both domestically and abroad, with forty-three percent of the customers patronizing Berlin startups being foreign.
